That’s actually some pretty mild stuff for a city that provides a ton of material for comedy. And the hiking thing only applies to a certain segment of the population otherwise there wouldn’t be so many fat people like me.

Never heard of the guy, but of the four videos I watched, he made fun of Spokane, people who feel the need to be offended by everything, people who think they’re gluten intolerant and essential oils.

He’s making fun of middle-upper class straight white people. Seems more like a lateral punch.

So, his most popular video by far is “if meat eaters acted like vegans” which is making fun of all the dumb stereotypical over-share-y vegan tropes. As a non-preachy vegan myself, I don’t love those folks either, but watching that stupid video made me want to say #notallvegans.

Every single video of his is basically taking the piss out  of some group by reciting the dumb things enthusiasts of one thing or another s ay but in a smug deadpan tone, and he semingly chooses his targets based on them having committed the grievous offense of being over-share-y about whatever it is they’re into.

It’s lazy, mean-spirited, and one giant un-earned superiority complex made into a dumb YouTube channel.

Fuck this guy.

I’ve grown up around vegans and vegetarians my whole life (my wife has been a vegetarian going on ten years now). I’d say that’s still pretty in line with making fun of middle-upper class straight white people (lateral punch) My wife is also very into essential oils, and she found the content of both pretty funny. However, she gives absolutely no shits about what other people (including me) think about what she’s into. I think essential oils are fucking stupid.

He’s making fun of people who take themselves too seriously, regardless of what they’re into.

Reminds me a bit too much of Portlandia, which is why I find it only mildly funny.

Making fun of people who are passionate about something, even if they’re dumb about it, is such low-hanging fruit. It’s just not good comedy. And that’s this guy’s entire act.

The relative socioeconomic status of the targets and the person making fun of them does not define punching up or down. He’s attacking people for their passion about something when they haven’t done any attacking of others.

Also, i t’s misguided of you to assume all of his targets are straight, white, and well off financially .

I find Fred Armisen thoroughly irritating, but he’s far more talented than this chode.

I’m perfectly willing and able to laugh at comedians being offensive, but they have to actually be GOOD, not just offensive.
